Gas Suppression System

HONEYWELL FM 200/HFC-0227ea FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

FM200 is also known as HFC227ea. HFC227ea (FM200) fire suppression is also a widely accepted replacement for Halon 1301. FM200 works by removing heat from a fire so that combustion cannot be sustained, its unique characteristics also prevent re-ignition. FM200 does not remove the oxygen level to a point where it is unsafe for occupants to remain in the room. Following a fire, the gas may be dispersed through natural ventilation, which is made possible as FM200 does not have any toxic side effects and because it contains neither bromine nor chlorine, it has no detrimental effect on the earth’s ozone layer. The gas is discharged through a piping network into the protected area, where it is applied to extinguish the fire. FM200 extinguishing agent is electronically non-conductive and non-corrosive, It leaves no oily residue or deposits to damage software, data files or communications equipment, therefore the clean-up time and costs after discharge are minimal. FM200 fire extinguishing agent is stored in cylinders as a liquid, pressurised with nitrogen it requires only a small storage space.

FM200 fire suppression systems are commonly used in:

  • DATA Centres
  • Comms Rooms
  • Telecommunication facilities
  • UPS Rooms
  • Medical facilities

FM200 Benefits:

  • Colourless, odourless, non-contaminating gaseous fire protection
  • Designed to protect critical assets and processes without damaging them
  • Safe to use in occupied areas
  • Proven in thousands of successful installations around the world.

HONEYWELL NOVEC 1230 CLEAN AGENT FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

A synthetic, non-conductive anti fire system designed as the modern and more eco-friendly alternative of FM 200.

FM200 fire suppression systems are commonly used in:

  • Clean Agent System FK-5-1-12 (Novec 1230) are employed to protect critical installations formerly protected by Halon 1301.
  • Honeywell Clean Agent Fire Suppression System UL, IS7285 & PESO listed 25 & 42 Bar cylinder.
  • Along with Cylinders, Honeywell also provides all necessary accessories to connect till manifold as a solution.

NOVEC 1230 systems are designed to hold the NOVEC 1230 in the form of a liquid and Nitrogen which is used to super-pressurise the container. When the system is activated the contents flow into the distribution pipework to the discharge nozzle(s) where it is rapidly dispersed as a vapour (less than 10 seconds). During the discharge the enclosure will be fogged which may reduce visibility. This normally clears rapidly and should not obstruct the ability of personnel to safely exit the protected area.

NOVEC 1230 Benefits:
The gas extinguishes via its cooling effect, and as it is liquid at room temperature it makes handling, shipping, & system maintenance much easier that its Halon predecessor.
It has zero ozone depletion potential & an extremely low global warming potential in that it has an atmospheric lifetime of just 5 days as opposed to its nearest Halocarbon alternative with a lifetime of 33 years.
Novec has a very low use concentration in that the amount required for effective suppression is around 5.3%-5.6% of the volume of the target area to be protected.
This means Novec systems have one of the smallest system storage footprints of any of our fire suppression systems.

Novec 1230 Applications:

  • Colourless, odourless, non-contaminating gaseous fire protection
  • Designed to protect critical assets and processes without damaging them
  • Safe to use in occupied areas
  • Proven in thousands of successful installations around the world.
