One of the latest techniques to measure flow rates is ultrasonic flow measurement. There are ultrasonic flow meters with one or several (up to 12) ultrasonic rays. The more ultrasonic transducers are used, the more accurately the flow measurement in general is. A widely used variant is the so-called clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter, with transducers that are clamped onto the process pipe using a conductive gel. Such meters are only suitable for liquids and very easy to install, even on a plastic pipe. Honeywell provides several variants of clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters, for permanent installation and for portable use, with a battery powered converter completed with built-in data logging function.
Besides clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters, De Gidts & Feldman has several multi ray meters with sensor housing. Check with your product specialist for the options!
